Atheist’s Appeal To Emotion: The Cruel Old Testament God (Video)

Description: This seems to be a trend where atheists use the “cruel God” of the Old Testament in a cumulative case to show that that God couldn’t possibly exist. I have had atheists flat out tell me that these “atrocities” prove that he is not real…their words, not mine.

About Razor Swift

Rich Christian who is the founder of Razor Swift, seeks to open hearts and minds through the platform of apologetics. It's his desire to approach Biblical, faith, and other issues from a different perspective rather than just preaching to the choir in the Christianese dialect. He maintains that faith and reason mustn’t necessarily be at odds with each other, but can be complementary. May no stone lay unturned.

  1. The cruelness of the god depicted in the old testament has nothing to do with whether or not that god exists. It merely shows a reason why, if it did exist, we would not want to worship it.

I feel that the proof of God’s existence should be in his manifest power, rather than clever arguments.

1 Corinthians 4:19-20 KJV (19) But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. (20) For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

    Agreed.

Since we’re now agreed that your original premise is flawed, and atheists don’t actually use this argument at all, I’d like to see a response to the other part of this post. You’re clearly OK with worshiping a god who endorses genocide, infanticide, rape, etc. Most atheists I know very strongly oppose such atrocities.

How do you reconcile your perfectly moral God with the OT war crimes?

Actually I’m just repeating this argument from the various atheists that I have conversed with. So, no, not my premise. If you’d like to discuss something, give me one topic at a time and more specifically the book, chapter and verse that you’re thinking of. Thanks in advance.
